by Charles L. Mee
Directed by Louisa Richards
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Limonade Tous Les Jours tells the story of Ya Ya, a young Parisian cabaret singer who meets Andrew, a middle aged American tourist, at a Paris cafe. Both are recovering from recent ruined love relationships. The two spend the day exploring the city together, speaking of all the reasons why they shouldn’t fall in love. And so: they do.
Louisa Richards, director of Limonade and artistic director of Exquisite Corps observes, “Mee takes us on a journey that celebrates that electric shock you only get from a moment of connection with someone unexpected — so strong that it takes over your whole being. His plays demand a multidisciplinary approach – one both lyrical and physical – that really embodies the Exquisite Corps aesthetic.” The production incorporates elements of opera, nightclub singing, modern dance and photography.
The production stars Marie Polizzano (New Repertory Theatre, The Huntington Theatre Company) and Peter Haydu (Stoneham Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, Publick Theatre), and introduces countertenor Doug Dodson to the area. Mr. Haydu appears in this production courtesy of Actor’s Equity Association.
